When my sisters and I were younger we used to love decorating a Christmas tree at Christmas. This one year we were not able to get one from the store. So us three girls went outside and decided to cut one down our selves. We were never allowed to use our Dad's saws because they were to sharp. So we went inside and brought out a butter knife instead! We were so excited about cutting down our own Christmas tree in our own yard.We worked on that tree for hours and we got it free.It was not a very big tree). We were so excited! But, the true meaning of Christmas is not about Christmas trees, presents, or even a huge dinner with family and friends. It is about the birth of a little baby boy,who is Christ the Lord.:)
When me and my family were living in our old house we had a few very good friends of ours over. They were dropping of something at our house and the Mom had brought along with her,her two girls. The girls were a few years older then us but I always loved having them around. We walked down to our pond at the back of our house. My older sisters and one of the girls(Maddie)were dare devils. And decided to go out on the ice.I don't know if they knew how thin the ice was or not.I was not a dare devil neither was the other girl that was with us.Let's go out on the ice one of the dare devils said.I don't want to do that,I said.Maddie's sister stepped out on the ice.It cracked and her foot fell through. When she pulled out her foot out we could all see that her foot was bleeding. She cut it on the ice.Her and I decided to go back up to the house.Wile my sister and Maddie stayed at the pond.I was not there to witness the seen but from what they tell me they went out on the ice,And went a little further and further.all of the sudden Maddie fell through the ice!She some how got out between my older sister and herself. They walked back to the house feeling very could.Mean wile Me and the other girl went inside the house together.I said to her,I'll go up stairs and get you a band aid for your cut.As I headed up the stairs my Dad asked me what I was doing.I'm getting a band aid.I don't know why I didn't tell my Dad that she fell through the ice,I guess I thought that it would be easier if I didn't tell the whole truth to him. But not telling the whole truth was a lie.Our friends left soon after. Maddie told her Mom what had happened.I was punished for not telling the whole truth and my sister for going out on thin ice.The moral of this story is, not to go out on thin ice and to tell nothing but the whole truth.
In our family, the stories that are from your parents childhood always turn out to be a family favorite. This one I think is one of the best one (on my Dads side of stories). This story will take place in a ice cream shop, in a mall in Canada. My Dad was just a little boy in this story. My Dad's family had already finishing enjoyed a ice cream cone all except for my Dad.He was still sitting on the bench slowly licking his cone. The family waited for him for a wile, then his Mom said, come on it's time to go.My Dad got up to follow the rest of the family out of the shop, he swung his legs out of the bench and stood up. With his half eaten ice cream cone in his hand he tuned around and as he swung around he( by accident) smeared his cone into a man who was wearing a expensive suit.My Dad being little didn't say any thing to the man about his now ruined suit. All he did was get out of that ice cream shop fast! When I hear this story I wonder if that poor man ever found out that his suit was smeared with ice cream, while he was walking around the mall with people looking at him or when he got home and took off his suit.
Years age my family and I had just watched the movie"No More Baths"In the movie the kids had a fort out in the woods, and they had hanged lots of things in the trees. When my sisters and I watched the movie we thought that hanging things in the trees was so cool looking. So me and my sisters decided to do the same the kids did in the movie. My older sister and I began to get together all of our things and started putting our things in the trees. We have moved from that house years ago.Who knows, our old things that we can never find may still be stuck up in some trees at our old house.
Years ago my family and I were going to Church when this favorite family story was made. My younger sister was running in to church with her doll. This doll was no small doll,it was huge!Much bigger then she was at the time.I think she was at least three. We happened to be late that morning as we usually were because of one reason or another. My little sister was the last one running into Church. She slipped on her big doll wile running. My poor little sister was not hurt thankfully because she landed on the huge doll and at the same time she did the doll said Ma ma.
My Family and I were on our way home from church one day when we saw a young girl walking on the side walk all by her
self. She wasn't wearing a coat, and she was shivering in the very cold winter weather. It was only eighteen degrees out!
As we drove past her we noticed that not only did she not have a coat, but she also was only wearing slippers on her feet. We all felt very bad for her, and we began to look around for a hat, or a coat, or something we could give the shivering girl. My Younger sister took off her church coat and handed it up to my Mom saying, "Here give her this coat. I have two other church coats at home." We turned around and pulled up next to the girl. My Mom handed the coat out of the window to the girl saying, "Here you look cold." The girl took it and immediately put it on. As we drove away I remembered the verse that says,If a man has two coats, let him give one to the man who has none.
A Sisters Joke
One night my older sister decided to play a joke on me. Little did she know that she would scare me half to death! It was many years ago when this happened, but no one ever gets tired of telling old stories and old jokes! I was lying in my bed one night when my older sister climbed up the bunk bed ladder and said looking very serious, "Brianna, I'm going to run away!" I sat up in bed."What did you say!" My eyes must have been as large as saucers! "I told you I'm going to run away." "Oh,please don't",I begged, now crying. "I'm so sorry for all the times I was mean to you, I'll try not to ever do it again! I'll do anything you say, just please don't leave!" My sister must have been trying very hard not to laugh by this time ,but she somehow held it in and said sadly, "No Brianna, my mind is made up, goodbye!" As she walked out the door I began to pray that God would make her come back home. Well, as it turned out, my sister didn't come back in the house that night. Instead, she spent the night in the barn and came back in the house the next morning. I was so happy to see her. I found out later that it was only a joke. We all laugh over it now.:)
